Osteopathy

Is personalised manual medicine. Osteopaths look at the body in its entirety and work to reduce pain by restoring optimum movement to the joints, reducing muscle tension, recommending stretches and exercises and promoting overall wellbeing.

These are some conditions that respond well to Osteopathy but we may be able to help with other problems as well.

  • Arthritic conditions
  • Back problems
  • Disc injuries
  • Headaches
  • Limb and foot pain
  • Neck pain
  • Pelvis and hip problems
  • Postural strains
  • Pregnancy-related pain
  • Rehabilitation after injury
  • Sciatic pain
  • Shoulder pain and stiffness
  • Sports injuries
  • Trapped nerves

Acupuncture

Andrew uses Western Medical Acupuncture alongside Osteopathy. This is a modified form of traditional acupuncture mainly used to relieve musculoskeletal pain and muscle restriction.

Typically fine, sterile needles are inserted in or around the site of the symptoms given a series of quick rotations and then left for a few minutes before being removed.

Often patients feel little as the needles are inserted or report a dull tingling sensation. Sometimes the needles can feel quite sharp, though this is usually quite bearable.

There is a growing body of evidence that Acupuncture is helpful in reducing stress and relieving pain. Both Osteopathy and Acupuncture are recommended for the treatment of back pain in guidelines published by the National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE).

Osteopathy for Expectant Mums

Pregnancy and child-birth can place their own unique set of stresses on the body.

By gently freeing-up areas that have become restricted or compressed as the body changes during pregnancy, Osteopaths can help to make a pregnancy more comfortable and a baby's entry into the world easier.
